CleanMark ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how our Chrome extension handles your data.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data. CleanMark processes all content entirely within your browser. No data is sent to our servers or any third-party services.

What CleanMark Accesses

To function, CleanMark requires the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab: To read the content of the currently active tab when you click "Extract". This only activates when you explicitly use the extension.
scripting: To inject the content extraction script into the active tab for markdown conversion.
storage: To save your markdown content and preferences (dark mode, onboarding state) locally in Chrome's storage on your device.
clipboardWrite: To copy formatted markdown to your clipboard when you use the Copy or AI Copy features.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. This includes:

Your extracted markdown content (so it persists when you close/reopen the popup)
Dark mode preference
Onboarding completion state

This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time by using the "Clear" button or uninstalling the extension.

Third-Party Services

CleanMark does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, analytics platforms, or tracking tools.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties. There is no data to share because we don't collect any.

Updates

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of CleanMark after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
